About Luke Lomax
Luke Lomax is a dedicated and passionate member of the community with a unique background in sales management and community organization. His genuine commitment to the Hancock County community is driven by his desire to raise his children and cultivate a life for them and his understanding of the needs and aspirations of the people of the community around him.

Policy Initiatives

Enhancing Accessibility and Transparency in Public Meetings

  • Advocate for diversified communication channels to announce public meetings, encompassing digital platforms, local media, and an official county website segment.
  • Propose the adaptation of meeting schedules to include evening and weekend slots, thus accommodating the schedules of working residents.
  • Introduce options for virtual participation, enabling comprehensive community engagement irrespective of physical attendance capabilities.

Promoting Government Ethics and Anti-Corruption Measures

  • Commit to the enforcement of stringent transparency protocols, mandating the publication of council decisions and their justifications in an accessible manner.
  • Introduce mandatory ethics training for all government officials and staff, cultivating a culture of integrity within Hancock County.
  • Propose the establishment of an independent oversight body to scrutinize council decisions and investigate any corruption allegations.

Fostering Responsible Economic Development

  • Endeavor to achieve a balanced zoning strategy, particularly focusing on the harmonious development of Industrial, Residential, and Commercial Zones around strategic areas such as the Mt Comfort Road Corridor.
  • Advocate for the revision of tax abatement policies to ensure short-term durations that serve the broader interests of the community.
  • Initiate the formation of a task force dedicated to attracting businesses that promise sustainable employment opportunities and align with community values.

Protecting Property Rights

  • Address concerns regarding the infringement of property rights through disproportionate tax increases, advocating for adherence to existing guidelines on annual property tax increases.
  • Call for the implementation of a county-wide limit for property taxes of 1% of the purchase price of the property, rewarding long-time citizens and protecting young families growing within our county.
  • Champion reforms that protect property owners from undue financial burdens, ensuring tax payouts are justly calculated and not dependent on the whims of a volatile real estate market.

Additionally, Outside Sales requires me to be comfortable in any environment and find common ground with customers and coworkers to work towards a preferred outcome. My time in Retail Sales required me to be an expert for both customers and team members and discover ways to make different products and services relatable based on the conversation I was having with the customer."

Managing a team of individuals, whether in the pawn industry, telecommunications industry, or in a community organization requires refined communication skills, ability to empathize with both employees and customers, and strong leadership acumen to determine a path forward, whether working on a potential sale, an upcoming event, or a resolution of some problem or conflict."

"My experiences in Sales and Management, along with my passion for advancing liberty and promoting personal responsibility, provided me with the skills I needed to make a difference in my community. I have worked on the Board of Directors of a 501-C3 Animal Rescue, as a Chief Steward for CWA Local 4900 representing over 250 retail employees in the State of Indiana, on a planning board for a Church Men's Retreat, and currently work as both an Executive Committee member for the Libertarian Party of Hancock County, and a member of the Libertarian Party of Indiana's State Central Committee. These have been both the most challenging and most rewarding professional experiences of my life. I have learned to coordinate staffing for events, keep a schedule of events, meetings, and due dates for filings, and collaborate with others on the various boards and committees to utilize the different strengths of members in order to increase effectiveness."
